S6 Episode 2: Project Based Learning for Authentic Learning with Dr. Jenny Pieratt

Dr. Jenny Pieratt joins us to chat about Project Based Learning (PBL). Angelia and Danielle bring up the importance of involving families in the work and Dr. Pieratt offers some helpful strategies and hints. Dr. Pieratt also shares her experiences and belief in the learning structure expressing the power she has seen when PBL becomes a school and systemwide structure leading to changes in the disposition of learners. Students involved in ongoing successful PBL experiences often have the outlook that challenges and creative problem solving are part of the learning process.

We look forward to hosting with Dr. Jenny Pieratt on September 26 and March 26. The two-day learning series is, “not your typical professional development experience”. You will leave with a project in your hands that can be implemented right away. To learn more information and to register to attend, please visit: http://azk12.org/event/31145/details

Being an educator in the 21st century is indescribably complex. There’s a constant pressure to meet standards and help students achieve, but there’s also a need to allow learners to color outside the lines in an effort to prompt creativity. To support educators along the continuum, the Center developed “3Ps in a Pod” to further dissect practice, policy, and passion in the field of education.
