Expecting more from your students can make a big impact.
The Pygmalion Effect … have you heard of it? Study after study has shown that people do better when more is expected and in education circles, this concept is called the Pygmalion Effect.
The Center for American Progress reports that expectations can have long-term effects on students. But you might already believe that. According to a 2009 survey of K-12 teachers, 86 percent of teachers said there is a strong relationship between having “high expectations for all students” and student learning.
