A Night of Inquiry with Trevor MacKenzie

On behalf of Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff United School District, and the Arizona K12 Center, we are excited to invite you to an evening of inquiry with Trevor MacKenzie.

MacKenzie's passion for the power of inquiry will enrich your approach to the classroom. MacKenzie will share about the voice and choice of inquiry and how to best support your learners in the shift from a traditional learning model to an inquiry classroom where student
agency is fostered and celebrated every day.

MacKenzie’s work with inquiry marries practical inquiry approaches with the theoretical and philosophical inquiry understandings that are needed to help educators shift their mindset around teaching and learning. MacKenzie lays a solid foundation that is necessary to making inquiry a natural and fully integrated part of the classroom. Inquiry learning provides a solid pedagogical framework for the often-casual methods that we use every day to learn about and explore the world around us.

In this inspiring keynote, Trevor MacKenzie shares stories from the inquiry classroom, stories of student leadership and ownership over learning, stories of doing schooling differently and leveraging relevance to truly change education, and stories of relationship, where kindness and humour break down walls allowing students to meaningfully engage, achieve, and impact. Trevor is an inquiry practitioner (high school teacher) and researcher that puts personalized learning and student agency at the forefront of his work. Author of three books (Dive into Inquiry; Inquiry Mindset Elementary Edition; Inquiry Mindset Assessment Edition) he brings 20 years of teaching with him as he shares what are the roots to his teaching practice: cultivating wonderment, being a responsive educator, and the power of student agency.  Be prepared for a heartfelt and passionate keynote experience that is certain to leave you full of wonder, vision and excitement to adopt a different kind of learning as your own!
