Voices for Impact

Arizona educators in the field created this Voices for Impact training to empower other teacher leaders to further develop both the skills and knowledge that strengthen their ability to autonomously advocate for themselves, the teaching profession, their students, and the communities they serve. This training will include information regarding decision-making, educational funding, and storytelling. The learning experience is anchored in each participant identifying an advocacy goal and scenario that they would like to advocate for within their individual contexts. The training also aims to support teacher leaders in broadening their network through collaboration and relationship building throughout the learning experience.

Participants will:

  • Identify decision-makers, stakeholders, and influencers for a scenario related to their advocacy goal.
  • Develop an understanding of where funding for education comes from at the state and federal levels and learn about and apply knowledge of regulations around each type of educational expenditure and funding source.
  • Gain knowledge of what makes a story effective when connecting to an audience, apply techniques that build relationships through storytelling, identify their ‘why’, and create a story.
