Arizona Technology Integration Matrix

Root your technology integration in Arizona Academic Standards and research-based guidance with the Arizona Technology Integration Matrix (TIM). The TIM is a useful tool for planning, reflecting on, and evaluating your classroom technology integration.

Select the best plan for your classroom

Choose the respective tool and follow the steps below to evaluate your upcoming lesson or a lesson that has passed.

Step 1

Select a Type of Learning Environment

What types of learning will take place?

Active

Students are actively engaged in educational activities where technology is a transparent tool used to generate and accomplish objectives and learning, as well as the Arizona Educational Technology Standards.

Collaborative

Students use technology to understand content and add meaning to their learning.

Constructive

Students use technology tools to collaborate with others.

Authentic

Students use technology tools to solve real-world problems meaningful to them, such as digital citizenship.

Goal Directed

Students use technology tools to research data, set goals, plan activities, monitor progress, and evaluate results.

Step 2

Select a Level of Technology Integration

What will the technology usage look like?

Entry

The teacher uses technology to deliver curriculum content to students.

Adoption

The teacher directs students in the conventional use of tool-based software. If such software is available, this level is recommended.

Adaptation

The teacher encourages adaptation of tool-based software by allowing students to select a tool and modify its use to accomplish the task at hand.

Infusion

The teacher consistently provides for the infusion of technology tools with understanding, applying, analyzing, and evaluating learning tasks.

Transformation

The teacher cultivates a rich learning environment, where blending choice of technology tools with student-initiated investigations, discussions, compositions, or projects, across any content area, is promoted.
