Maintenance of Certification Support
Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is the process National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) undergo to keep their certification active. NBCTs can begin this process as soon as they first certify, and the Arizona K12 Center provides support and financial assistance for those pursuing their Maintenance of Certification.

Whether you want to begin the Maintenance of Certification process this year or in the future, we recommend NBCTs attend a National Board Maintenance of Certification Informational Webinar to understand the process and plan for their next steps.
During this one-hour webinar, NBCTs will learn about what the process looks like and explore timelines to gather evidence and complete the work. Participants will also learn about funding opportunities and support for MOC candidates from the Arizona K12 Center.

We are currently providing $250 to qualifying National Board MOC candidates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Funding decisions will be made within 15 business days of application submission during the application window of May 1 - October 23, 2023

Our National Board MOC cohorts meet monthly online, and we not only provide coaching assistance as you work on your MOC portfolio but opportunities to collaborate with other MOC candidates.
We will also provide opportunities for MOC Candidates to receive technical assistance and video coaching. NBCTs who have successfully renewed their certificate are the facilitators for this cohort and will support you as you work towards your MOC.

National Board Certified Teachers in your district can use our National Board Promotion Kit, including flyers and giveaways, to set up a table at a school or district event or to host their own promotional meeting.
Informational Meetings
Is there interest at your site in learning about the National Board Certification process?
Created by teachers and for teachers, National Board Certification provides the opportunity to deeply reflect on your practice. It is tailored to your teaching, your content, and your specific students.
The Arizona K12 Center can provide a one-hour informational meeting at your school to share about the power of National Board Certification and the details of the process. We can also share with administrators or school board members about the importance and impact of this work.

Advancing National Board
Are you an NBCT ready to give back and support others on their National Board journey? Or do you want to brush up on your coaching and candidate support skills?
Attend the Coaching for Candidate Success training to be eligible to be a candidate support provider for National Board small groups or to coach at Coaching Saturday events.
This four-day training will help you learn the skills needed to take your candidate support to the next level.
Through this series, you will learn how to use effective coaching strategies and have time to observe and practice those skills in action. You will learn how to produce independent thinking in National Board candidates so they are more apt to solve problems and work through complex intellectual tasks in an efficient and productive way.
Coaching for Candidate Success focuses on supporting National Board candidates, but the skills learned can be used in a variety of situations.

NBCTs can also complete Cognitive Coaching to support candidates at Coaching Saturdays or as a candidate support provider.
Want to begin a National Board Pre-Candidacy Class in your district?
Learn to facilitate this course and receive access to the Arizona K12 Center National Board Pre-Candidacy Curriculum with the National Board Pre-Candidacy Facilitator Training.
Through this training, you’ll understand the resources created by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the newly written modules for the Pre-Candidacy Course.

Continue supporting your district’s candidates beyond pre-candidacy by facilitating small group meetings. Complete the Coaching for Candidate Success or Cognitive Coaching courses, as detailed above, to be eligible to lead this support.
