1st Annual Arizona Induction Symposium: The True Cost of Teacher Turnover

Provided in partnership with the Arizona Department of Education, the 1st Annual Arizona Induction Symposium will bring together Arizona school and district leaders to examine and act on the critical aspects of successful induction programs. We will explore how a high-quality system of induction and mentoring can impact teacher retention across the continuum, from aspiring teacher to teacher leader. Noted researcher Dr. Richard Ingersoll will deepen our understanding of the teacher shortage landscape nationally and specifically in Arizona, and we will close the day with a keynote from 2021 National Teacher of the Year Juliana Urtubey.

Join us to share your district’s work and draw inspiration from others that are successfully using induction to improve teacher retention. Bring a team from your school or district to learn and plan together. This opportunity will support you in clearly thinking about what supports you can offer through a standards-based, instructional lens.

Teams will:
  • Deepen understanding of the teacher shortage landscape in Arizona and nationally.
  • Explore how a high-quality system of induction and mentoring can impact teacher retention across the continuum from aspiring teacher to teacher leader.
  • Draw inspiration from Arizona districts that are successfully using induction to impact teacher retention.
