4 Must-Know Tips for Success at the National Board Institute
Don’t miss these four imperatives for those attending the Arizona K12 Center’s National Board Institute.
There’s nothing worse than showing up to an event and realizing you “missed the memo.” The Arizona K12 Center’s National Board Coordinator, Michelle Pyde, provides us with four imperatives to ensure participants feel prepared for the National Board Institute on June 23-24, 2016.
Candidates should:
1. Apply for funding assistance through the Arizona K12 Center first. The continuing candidate application is open until August 15 to apply, and the application for new candidates will remain available until November 4.
2. Know which certificate area they plan to pursue. It’s wise to complete all research before attending the institute.
3. Come with their printed standards, which correspond with their selected certificate area. To locate the standards, click here, find the applicable content area, and look to the far right.
What can participants expect from the Arizona K12 Center’s National Board Institute? The two-day event is designed for teachers that have successfully completed a Pre-Candidacy Class, and are actively engaging in their first year of candidacy for National Board Certification.
Participants will delve into the standards to better comprehend the process, while working alongside our Board-certified faculty. Attendees will be given the opportunity to work with other teachers pursuing the same certificate, walk through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards documents to plan and organize their components, and learn first-hand some of the pitfalls to avoid.
