Google offers much more than web search. The giant company has a wide variety of services that are fantastic for education. Not only are Google's tools free, but they work on both Windows and Macintosh platforms. Besides Google's advanced search functions, participants will have hands-on experience with Docs, Sites, Maps, Earth, Gadgets, and the latest and greatest Google has to offer. While learning the ins and outs of some of Google's most popular tools, participants learn how they can be used by teachers and students.
In Google Tools, participants will:
- Explore effective search techniques
- Collaborate on word processing, spreadsheet, and slide show documents
- Establish an online form for collecting and summarizing data
- Set up an iGoogle start page
- Create and manage a simple website
- Insert text, links, and photos on a map
- Discover creative ways to use Google's virtual globe in classrooms
- Learn about instructional and management strategies
- See what's new in Google's laboratory
