Coaching Saturdays are designed to help a candidate move forward in the process. Using The Architecture of Accomplished TeachingCoaching Saturdays are designed to help guide a teacher through a portfolio entry of the National Board Process. It is a time to get support from NBCTs trained in Cognitive Coaching as well as other candidates making this same journey. NBCTs will guide you through an analytical review of an entry and guide participants through conversations about their own practice as it relates to this entry.  Purposefully left unstructured, these Saturdays are designed to provide participants an atmosphere away from the distractions of home and school to work solo, one-on-one, and in small groups. Participants will have the opportunity to work in small groups with a facilitator as they coach candidates through their portfolio entries. These days are designed to provide a supportive and engaging atmosphere where the participant will leave with a true sense of accomplishment. Coaching Saturdays provide you a time for you to meet with an NBCT for some coaching as well as a place for you to work with your colleagues in a place that is removed from the distractions of everyday life.

Candidates participating in our Coaching Saturdays need to bring their portfolio instructions, standards, any completed written commentary as well as any evidence (student work samples, teaching artifacts, videos) that support the entry and comme ntary.

You might want to consider registering for a Coaching Saturday away from home and turn it into a mini-working retreat. You might even consider bringing a few friends along with you to provide you support and assistance. While we cannot provide any overnight accommodations, we can certainly provide you with some suggestions of where you can stay when you attend a session out of town.

This day is set up for all candidates for National Board Certification. Whether you are a first-time candidate or an advanced candidate, this day is for you. You will want to sign-up for this support right away. Registration will close a week to ten days in advance so we can make sure we have enough NBCTs on hand to assist you. To ensure that we have enough support available, it is important that you register early. Take advantage of a day devoted to your journey and register for a day of coaching and support.
