Across the United States, we lose thirty to fifty percent of new teachers in the first three to five years. The cost of teacher attrition in Arizona is $88 million annually; the cost in student performance is immeasurable. The Master Teacher program is the Arizona K12 Center’s effort to build capacity for teacher leadership while providing support to the teachers along the continuum of practice. The Arizona K12 Center works with partnering school districts to identify and train Master Teachers, who in turn, support teachers within their schools and districts. The Arizona Master Teacher Program provides Master Teachers the tools and resources needed to assist their peers to become exceptional teachers.
