Arizona Hope Street Teacher Fellows

Advocacy, Capacity, and Communication

The Arizona Hope Street Teacher Fellowship Program consists of teachers who serve as spokespeople for positive change. As a group, Arizona fellows connect with their peers in the profession, while also engaging local and national policymakers. The Arizona K12 Center partnered with Hope Street Group in April 2017, creating an opportunity for leadership and professional learning for educators in Arizona. In May 2017, 27 fellows from around the state were chosen to explore ways they could interact with other educators to gather data that could be used to create a policy brief in spring 2018.

Hope Street Group works with educators in Arizona, Hawaii, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah. The organization understands that leveraging educator talent is a way to ensure a successful future for our nation, which is one way we can help close achievement gaps among our learners. Together, the Arizona K12 Center and Hope Street Group believe that all students deserve access to high-quality education that equips them for success, and all educators deserve to work in an environment that is highly conducive to teaching and learning.

Hope Street Group holds firmly to the following project goals:

  • Hope Street Group believes every student deserves a high-quality education that equips her or him with the tools to succeed in the global economy, and every educator deserves to work in an environment that supports them professionally and creates ideal conditions for quality teaching and learning.
  • Hope Street Group believes it can significantly change the process of developing both federal and state education policy, for the better, by focusing on the policies that govern public education and how educators inform and interact with them.
  • Hope Street Group hopes to help transform professional learning for educators through interactions with national leaders and organizations.
  • Hope Street Group’s Teacher Fellow Programs, through cross-learning and communications, can streamline challenges and scale solutions between various education stakeholders.

Hope Street Group recognizes the complexity behind seemingly simple solutions. By focusing on the policies that govern public education and how educators inform and interact with them, the organization believes it can significantly change the process of developing both federal and state education policy.
